DIGITAL DISPLAY FOR EASY COOL BOX MANAGEMENT

The CFX3 series features an easy to read high-resolution colour display panel which states the temperature and status of the cool box. Several protection systems are built into the display, including a scratch-resistant cover and IP65 rated housing to protect against dust and water splashes, so you can feel confident wherever you go. The upgraded USB port is now located in the display panel for a faster and more ergonomic way to charge your portable devices. The intuitive user-interface displays the voltage, Bluetooth/WiFi connection status and temperature in colourful graphics. Dometic have taken a great deal of care with the design and development of the electronics only used in the CFX series. It is designed to be as energy efficient as possible. When the Dometic CFX100 starts up the compressor is gently started to save energy. If the desired temperature is not met within an expected short period of time, there is a turbo cooler which then comes on automatically to boost the compressor speed until the pre-set temperature is reached. Once met, the software and electronics switches the compressor back into energy-saving mode.

WHERE DOES THE CFX3-100 GET ITS IMMENSE POWER?

Compressor cooling technology, used in Dometic’s CFX series, offers unrivalled cooling power. But how does it work? Well, it relies on a refrigerant that changes from a liquid to gaseous state in the evaporator. The evaporation process extracts heat from the interior of the cooling unit, causing the temperature to drop. The compressor draws in the refrigerant, compresses it and passes it on to the condenser. From here, the absorbed heat is released into the atmosphere. The refrigerant liquefies and flows back to the evaporator, where the cycle begins again. The result of this is an excellent cooling performance, capable of deep-freezing, even at extreme ambient temperatures.

ABSORPTION COOLING

The Technical Bit

A concentrated ammonia solution is heated in a boiler and expelled as vapour. The pressurised ammonia gas is then liquefied in a condenser. Supplied with hydrogen, it evaporates and in the process extracts heat from the storage container. The ammonia gas then enters the absorber where it is reabsorbed in a weak solution of ammonia. Finally, the saturated solution flows back to the boiler where the whole cycle starts again.

The Technical Bit

The thermoelectric principle was discovered by J. C. A. Peltier, which is why the temperature generating parts of thermoelectric systems are referred to as Peltier elements. Thermoelectrics are based on the fact that cold or heat energy (depending on the polarity) is generated when a DC current is conducted between different types of metal.
